What is an Empathic Listener?

An empathic listener is a person who actively listens to another, understanding the emotions and perspectives of the other person. This is done without bias, presumption, advice, or judgement.

What does an empathic listening session include?

The session can take place over the phone, or over video. I listen to what ever my clients need to talk about. I will not judge. I will help you untangle concerns you may have, and will be completely present for you.

How is empathic listening different from coaching?

While I listen empathically during coaching sessions, coaching consists of setting goals and implementing plans with clients to follow to help them reach their goals. For an empathic listening session, I am simply there to listen. There is no goal setting, or structure to follow.  Empathic listening allows the client to be able to express what they need, to an objective and supportive listener. I may ask questions for clarification that help my client and myself to more deeply understand what is being shared.

How can I trust that what I discuss is kept confidential?

As mentioned in our privacy policy and terms of service, nothing shared during sessions will be shared anywhere else, unless required by law. My goal is to help people. I believe trust is crucial and Rugged Weeds will not break that trust.
